Those that can stay away are now the lucky ones in a country where 80% are unemployed. But even those with jobs find it impossible to make ends meet. Millions have left to seek work in neighbouring countries and send supplies home, and millions more are facing starvation as Mugabe refuses to do anything to get the economy back on track.

The brave strikers in Zimbabwe deserve all the support they can get – especially as they know full well what could happen to them for standing up to Mugabe.
